Shop / physical movie for looney tunes
The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie, directed by the legendary Chuck Jones, is a feature-length compilation that showcases some of the funniest animated shorts in filmmaking history. Among the 11 complete shorts featured are the iconic "Robin Hood Daffy," "What's Opera, Doc?," "Bully for Bugs," and "Duck Amuck," which remain as hilarious today as they were when first released over 50 years ago. While some viewers may wonder why certain films were omitted or edited (such as the "Long Haired Hare" sequence, which combines footage from multiple Road Runner shorts to create a 20-minute montage that weakens the pacing), the overall collection is a testament to the razor-sharp timing and exceptional artistry of Jones and his talented crew, including designer Maurice Noble, writer Mike Maltese, composers Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn, and the legendary voice actor Mel Blanc.
In the 1979 feature film "1001 Rabbit Tales," the creative team at Warner Bros. has once again showcased the antics of Bugs Bunny and his comrades. The premise is simple: Bugs and Daffy, both book salesmen, are competing to sell the most copies of a children's book. After a mishap, Bugs ends up in the castle of Yosemite Sam, who is the harem-leading honcho. Sam's son, Prince Abalaba, needs someone to read him stories, and Bugs, preferring that to being boiled in oil, takes on the job. Each rabbit-read narrative replaces a classic fairy tale with a Looney Tunes favorite: in "Jack and the Beanstalk," a giant bellows "Fee, fi, fo, fat, I tawt I taw a puddy tat"; the witch in "Hansel and Gretel" develops a hankering for rabbit stew; and "Goldilocks" goes feline as Sylvester swaps his porridge for "suffering succotash" on behalf of his bratty son. In the end, Bugs finds a way to escape, but not before his commission-hungry coworker Daffy gets involved, leading to a flurry of feathers and hilarity. This feature-length film is undiluted fun for both longtime fans of the Looney Tunes gang and those just discovering the zany world of these beloved characters.
